Hell Hawks
| Host: | Ingrid Schlueter |
| Guest: | Thomas Jones |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
With the approaching 4th of July holiday, Ingrid began this edition of Crosstalk by offering listeners a copy of a book entitled Documents of Freedom.
Dr. Thomas Jones is a scientist, author, pilot, and former NASA astronaut. Ingrid interviewed Dr. Jones for his efforts as co-author of the book, Hell Hawks!: The Untold Story of the American Fliers Who Savaged Hitler's Wehrmacht.
Hell Hawks is about a little-known and nearly forgotten group of fighter pilots. These young men, about 1,000 strong, were part of the 365th Fighter Group that flew P-47 Thunderbolt fighter aircraft during World War II. These men were called upon to train for and eventually do battle in gritty, action packed situations as they fought the German war machine.

"The Shack" in Light of the Bible
| Host: | Ingrid Schlueter |
| Guest: | Larry DeBruyn |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Pastor Larry DeBruyn is the pastor of Franklin Road Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He's the author of the book: Church on the Rise: Why I'm Not a Purpose Driven Pastor.
Ingrid began this edition of Crosstalk by mentioning a popular book entitled, The Shack, by William Young. She encouraged listeners to call if they had heard of the book, and the phone lines filled rapidly. Callers gave various brief testimonies, proving how word-of-mouth promotion is causing many to become aware of this book.
According to Pastor DeBruyn, Young is the child of missionary parents in New Guinea. While he was an MK, he was abused by the very tribal people his parents were trying to reach; abuse which is said to have continued while he was in missionary school. Being an allegory, Pastor DeBruyn believes The Shack is an attempt by Young to work out some of his reservations about God and some of the things that happened to him.
The problem with this book is the counterfeit trinity that it presents. The representations of each individual in this allegorical trinity have serious defects. Pastor DeBruyn explains these defects from the Bible with great simplicity and clarity, proving that The Shack, regardless of its high-profile endorsements, is best avoided.

Relevant, Real or Purpose Driven?
| Host: | Vic Eliason |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Vic Eliason began with news from South Dakota where the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, through a 7-4 decision, will allow the state to enforce a law requiring abortion providers to tell women in writing that the procedure will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.
In another story, Vic told of a Joseph Bardwell, the Chairman and President of a movie production company entitled, In Jesus' Name Productions. Bardwell is advocating for the graphic display of sin in Christian movies in order to supposedly show the contrast between the old life and the new.
This is an example of a move afoot within Christianity that claims we have to be "real" in order to reach the unchurched. The result is that today, some Christians, including some pastors, feel it's "real" to look and sound vulgar.
Is this "real" movement and the desire to feel comfortable and to be entertained perhaps just another name for the Purpose Driven Movement? Vic and callers discuss this possibility on this edition of Crosstalk.

-Vic then highlighted the following news stories in order to generate listener discussion:
-84 year old Samuel Golubchuk, a Winnipeg, Manitoba, man whose hospital, Grace Hospital, wanted to end his life due to his age, diminished capacity, and his use of hospital resources, has passed away peacefully via natural causes. (See Crosstalk Journal for March 20, 2008.)
-Amid today's Middle East tensions, oil hits all time high in per-barrel price.
-A Spanish parliamentary committee gave its support to a resolution that grants Great Apes the right to life, liberty, and the freedom from torture.
-Heinz gay mayonnaise ad spreads backlash in United Kingdom.
-Liberty Counsel files motion to intervene to defend against a lawsuit brought by same-sex marriage advocates intending to prevent California voters from voting on state marriage protection legislation in November.

Best of Crosstalk (First Aired June 25, 2008)
| Host: | Ingrid Schlueter |
| Guest: | Justin Peters |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Justin Peters is a staff evangelist at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Justin reminds listeners that there will be those who will do signs and wonders in Jesus' name, but that doesn't mean the miracles are of God. Nonetheless, the Word-Faith movement, which Justin believes has its origins in the metaphysical cults, continues to place a heavy emphasis on the miraculous and supernatural, while twisting Scripture to buttress its case.
For example, the Word-Faith movement teaches that when Adam was created he was another Yahweh. When Adam fell and lost his deity, it was transferred to Satan. Then the real Yahweh was kicked out of planet earth and now has no access unless we give it to him. So when a person gets saved in Word-Faith theology, he regains the godhood or deity that Adam lost. This is why they hold tightly to health and wealth, because they believe we are "gods" and a "god" cannot be poor, nor can he be sick.
This heretical exegesis of Scripture by Word-Faith leaders becomes clear as Ingrid and Justin dissect various audio segments from a few of the movers and shakers of the movement. Cuts are played featuring Creflo Dollar, who believes that Christians are little "gods"; Gloria Copeland, who claims that Christians can control the weather; and Benny Hinn, who believes that it is as easy to receive healing as it is to receive forgiveness for sin.

Supreme Court Strikes Down D.C. Gun Ban
| Host: | Jim Schneider |
| Guest: | Larry Pratt |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Larry Pratt is the President of Gun Owners of America (GOA), a non-profit lobbying organization formed in 1975 to preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners. GOA sees firearms ownership as a freedom issue.
In a 5-4 ruling on Thursday (6/26), the Supreme Court struck down a D.C. gun ban as unconstitutional. The court ruling came in the case of D.C. vs. Heller. The ruling overturned the gun ban on the basis that it violated the individual right to keep and bear arms. In this case Heller refers the plaintiff; a man who works with Federal Protective Services and was turned down in his attempt to obtain a permit to buy a gun.
Larry explains what might have transpired if the vote had gone the other way, what happened to the murder rate in D.C. when the ban went into place, Nancy Pelosi's reaction to the decision, and how the presidential candidates view this issue.

Obama Seeks to Woo Evangelicals
| Host: | Jim Schneider |
| Guest: | Gary Cass |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Dr. Gary Cass is a minister in the Presbyterian Church in America who in 2004, became the Executive Director for The Center for Reclaiming America for Christ at the late D. James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Dr. Cass is the author of the book, Gag Order, and co-author of The Bible and the Black Board. He is currently the Director of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission.
There is a move by Barack Obama to woo evangelicals to his viewpoint. Dr. Cass calls this false Christianity campaign, "The Audacity of Deceit." He believes it's the culmination of a very concerted effort on the part of theological and political liberals to hijack and deconstruct the Christian faith. In this way liberals can say that they are the true Christians while at the same time seeking to destroy the foundations of the faith.
Dr. Cass reviews an example of this, based upon a speech that Obama made some years ago before a liberal group called, "The Call to Renewal". Referring to Obama's comments from that speech, Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family recently took Obama to task for what he feels were distortions of Scripture. Obama responded by calling James Dobson a liar and claimed that Dobson's making things up.
Overall, this Crosstalk exposes Obama's continued efforts at obfuscation which is also seen when he tries to defend his distorted view of the Bible, while at the same time trailing a 100% voting record in favor of abortion behind him. In the words of Dr. Cass, Obama, "...is not a Christian by any historic or biblical standards that we've come to accept after 2,000 years of church history."

A Call for Discernment-Exposing the Word-Faith Movement

Beijing's Secret Terror
| Host: | Ingrid Schlueter |
| Guest: | Steven Mosher |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Steven Mosher is the President of the Population Research Institute and author of the book, Population Control: Real Cost, Illusionary Benefits.
This Crosstalk begins with discussion of how overall, the world is not overpopulated, nor is it headed in that direction. According to Steven, you could put the entire population of the world in single family homes in Texas. At a population of 6 billion plus, we are set to peak in about 25 years, and after that we will have a decline. So instead of a population bomb, Steven believes we are headed toward a population implosion.
The future for Europe is looking grim as more people are literally dying and filling coffins than cradles each year. If it weren't for immigration from the Middle East and North Africa, the population of most European countries would be shrinking even more rapidly.
Looking to the East, Steven noted that he was the first American scholar allowed into China when the directive came down to allow only one child per family. Back then, women outside the plan were arrested and were locked up and pressured to have an abortion. Some women who were up to 9 months pregnant were forced to have abortions with some cases of babies being put to death at birth. This horrendous one child per family policy continues and is set to run until 2050.
Other points of discussion included the United Nations Population Fund, the efforts of Planned Parenthood and the dark side behind their so-called "family planning" front, sex selection in parts of the world, pre-birth discrimination against the handicapped, and more.

International Law and the Gay Rights Battle
| Host: | Jim Schneider |
| Guest: | Larry Jacobs |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Larry Jacobs is the Global Coordinator for the World Congress of Families. The WCF is an international network of pro-family organizations, scholars, leaders and people of goodwill from more than 60 countries that seeks to restore the natural family as the fundamental social unit and the "seedbed" of civil society. It was founded in 1997 by Allan Carlson and is a project of The Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society in Rockford, Illinois.
The General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) recently passed a resolution June 3 in Colombia calling for the criminalization of opposition to homosexual rights. Called the "Resolution on Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity," this resolution speaks about unspecified steps to be taken by OAS member nations to end "violence and discrimination" based on sexual orientation and "sexual identity." This resolution was sponsored by the nation of Brazil whose president, Luis Lula, has publicly stated that he wants to criminalize homosexual dissent and legalize homosexual marriage.
Interestingly, Larry reported that 20 homosexual activists met with members of the OAS prior to the adoption of this resolution, however, pro-Family proponents did not receive the same opportunity for input.
