The Third American Revolution

Tom DeWeese is the President of the American Policy Center.

DeWeese recently gave an address at the Freedom Action National Conference held at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. In his address he gave listeners background on what he believes are two previous revolutions that took place in America and why he feels there is a need for a third revolution.

The first American revolution in the late 1700’s dealt with individualism, private property and free enterprise.

DeWeese believes that the second revolution began in the 1960’s, forming behind a mixture of communism, fascism and corporatism. Under the idea of being green, it now calls itself, “Environmentalism”; an effort to centralize control within the federal government.

He then describes how we must organize, rededicate and mobilize ourselves and others toward the goal of restoring our republic by winning the third American revolution.

National Security Feedback

Vic began this edition of Crosstalk by presenting brief details on three news stories making headlines:

--Nine foreign born men are removed from a Tampa, Florida, airline flight.

--In a related story, Dutch officials question 2 men with Detroit addresses at Amsterdam’s airport after officials found suspicious items in their luggage including a knife and a box cutter.

--Tens of thousands of convicted felons, including sex offenders and murderers, are regularly crossing one section of the shared border with Mexico.

From there, Vic opened the phone lines to have listeners provide their views on the border security crisis.

Beck Rally Causes More Evangelical Confusion

Over the years, Mormons in the public eye, ranging from the singing Osmond family to politicians like Mitt Romney, have not made the specifics of their faith a high profile issue.

This has not been the case recently with conservative talk show icon Glenn Beck. Beck hosted a rally at the Kennedy Center on Friday and followed up with his “Restoring Honor” rally at the National Mall in Washington on Saturday.

It’s estimated that many of the thousands of people that attended the Saturday rally were evangelical Christians.

When Beck credits the Native Americans as being God’s chosen people, he’s referencing the Mormon teaching that the Native Americans migrated here from Israel. When he encourages people to embrace phrases such as “I am that I am” and informs people to look to your higher self and find the truth within, he’s communicating New Age teachings.

Why are many evangelicals failing to see what should be obvious contradictions with the Bible? Are evangelicals apostatizing to the point that they feel we can link up with Mormons so that God can bless America?

What pastor Jim Wallace is attempting to do from his position on the “left”, Beck appears to be doing on the “right”. We see this from Beck’s verbiage that communicates his own form of social justice pluralism. This is especially troubling when you realize that Beck’s Mormonism teaches the goal of building a kingdom of God on earth.

Were this weekend’s activities a precursor to an eventual merging of the “left” and the “right”; a merging that will cause people to embrace a one-world government and one-world leader? Find out from Brannon as he ties the evidence together on this edition of Crosstalk.

Conservative talk-show icon Glenn Beck has been a staunch promoter of conservative views in the areas of civil government and law. However, Beck has now moved into an area where Brannon feels Christians must draw a clear theological, doctrinal and spiritual line.

Brannon encourages Christians to draw this line in part because of Beck’s Mormon faith, a faith that rejects the cross and defines Jesus as the spiritual brother of Lucifer.

This is one of the “faiths” that will be representing Christianity when Beck’s Divine Destiny program takes place on August 27th at the Kennedy Center. It’s an event that, according to Beck’s own website, will be a gathering in which "nationally-known religious figures from all faiths will unite…”

Brannon explains why this kind of ecumenical activity, as well as Mormonism, are unbiblical and therefore harmful to the body of believers in Christ and thus to America as well.

Controversial End-of-Life Case in Canada

Vic began this edition of Crosstalk by discussing the naive attitude many Christians have concerning spirituality and why this sets a dangerous precedent.

The focus then shifted to Canada where Brampton Civic Hospital is home to a patient named Joshua Mayandy. Mayandy, a Christian pastor, is said to have suffered a heart attack that resulted in some brain damage. Nonetheless, he is capable of minor communication.

What’s unusual about his case is that it’s being alleged that he must ask for food and water sustenance in order to live.

Join Vic as he presents the details of this case and as listeners weigh in with their thoughts on this critical issue.

Domesticated Jesus?

Harry L. Kraus Jr. is a board-certified general surgeon who has practiced both in the U.S. and abroad in Kenya as a medical missionary with Africa Inland Mission. He is author of several fiction and non-fiction books, including the one discussed today called, Domesticated Jesus.

As Kraus points out, when we work to domesticate animals the idea is to have those animals serve us.

On that note, how often have you treated Jesus the same way; perhaps asking for the forgiveness of sins but then asking Jesus to relate to you on your terms, telling him you don’t want to talk about sacrifice and lordship.

We tend to act like this because we want to be the boss; we want to be in control. Kraus calls it the “vending machine” God. We put forth a prayer and hope we get the result that we want. That, however, is actually a very small God, not the loving, huge, powerful God of the Bible.

We can also communicate that same, small God by thinking we have to do works in order to obtain favor with him, a position that nullifies the cross. Kraus says at that point a person is functioning under what he refers to as “gospel debt” and the answer to that debt is God’s grace.

These examples show how we tend to domesticate Jesus by our own immature faith and by acting Christian. These factors have their own chapter titles, and you’ll learn more when you review this edition of Crosstalk.

As reported on last Thursday’s Crosstalk, WorldNetDaily is sponsoring next month’s National Take America Back Conference in Miami. Well known conservative icon Ann Coulter was scheduled as a keynote speaker but was dropped after it was discovered that she was planning to speak at HOMOCON, an event being sponsored by GOProud.

Upon hearing of her dismissal, Coulter verbally criticized Farah and his staff, as well as making light of WorldNetDaily’s concentration on the Obama birth certificate issue.

This program is an update that also brings details concerning GOProud, a homosexual Republican organization that Farah feels is trying to infiltrate and subvert the conservative movement.

No Fear of God in Evangelical Churches

Ingrid began this edition of Crosstalk referencing Psalm 36:1 and Romans 3:10-18; verses that focus on the holiness and fear of God.

But what are we to think when evangelical churches, churches that purport to represent the gospel of Jesus Christ, don’t have the fear of God before their eyes?

Ingrid presented proof as she played a portion of music from a CD called "Crazy Praze", by Brentwood Music. The portion she played was from "The Throw-Up Song". The song itself is a double entendre, because while on the surface it sounds like a simplistic praise song for children, the lyrics are comprised of words that are also slang terms for the act of vomiting.

In contrast, Ingrid mentioned some excellent resources on the topic of the holiness and fear of God.

For example, she highlighted portions of an article by Brett McCracken called, The Perils of Wannabe Cool Christianity. McCracken is the author of the book, Hipster Christianity: Where Church and Cool Collide.

Also mentioned is a book entitled, The Fear of God: A Forgotten Doctrine by Arnold Frank, as well as an article by Bob Deffinbaugh called, "The Holiness of God".

The Department of Health and Human Services paid $700,000 for the ad which also appeared on the DHHS and White House websites.
