Jim opened this edition of Crosstalk with news that President Obama has named Indian-American lawyer Rashad Hussain as special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference to repair strained relations with the world’s Muslims.

Jim also reported that a number of states are saying that even if the nation passes health care legislation, they will exempt themselves from that legislation. In fact, Virginia is set to be the first state to sign into law a health freedom act.

William “Bill” J. Federer is a nationally known speaker, best-selling author, and president of Amerisearch, Inc., a publishing company dedicated to researching America's noble heritage. His book America's God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations has sold over a half-million copies, and his "American Minute" radio feature, recalling events of American significance on the date they occurred, is broadcast daily across the country and read by thousand on the Internet.

His works, which have been used by politicians, leaders, journalists, teachers, students and in court cases, include:

George Washington Carver-His Life & Faith In His Own Words

Treasury of Presidential Quotations

The Ten Commandments & their Influence on American Law

Three Secular Reasons Why America Should be Under God

and his recent boo:

Backfired-A Nation Born for Religious Tolerance No Longer Tolerates Religion.

This is President’s Day. According to Bill, Washington was born on February 22nd and Lincoln was born on February 12th. President’s Day unhooked the presidents from their actual birthdays when President Lyndon Johnson pushed through the 3 day holiday bill, the bill that moved any holiday that happened during the week to Monday.

Many facts are presented concerning the life, beliefs and governing philosophy of each of these great men. Here’s a brief selection of items covered on this edition of Crosstalk:

Concerning George Washington you’ll learn that…

--he gave up the opportunity to become king.
--in his farewell address he talked about the problems of concentrated power.
--he was not a deist as critics claim.
--he appointed chaplains to every regimen.

Concerning Abraham Lincoln you’ll learn that…

--the last bill he signed into law before he was shot was to put “In God We Trust” on our coin.
--he freed the slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation.--he was the first president to institute a national day of Thanksgiving.
