Nick Loris is a Research Assistant at The Heritage Foundation's Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies. At the Heritage foundation, Loris studies energy, environment and regulation issues.
The first half of this edition of Crosstalk looked at the International Climate Summit taking place in Copenhagen, an event that has a history that goes back to 1997 and the Kyoto Protocol.
The main discussion point at Copenhagen appears to be greenhouse gas reductions. Should cap and trade legislation be implemented, Nick feels very little environmental improvement would result at the expense of great economic pain and loss of sovereignty.
Join Jim and Nick as they also examine other aspects of the climate debate including "climate-gate", government grants, the possible globalist agenda and more.
The following are a sample of some of the stories that Jim covered on the second half of the program:
--In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, county board supervisors voted to bring domestic partnership benefits to county employees.
--Higher health insurance premiums may discourage marriage.
--Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced that he plans to work toward final passage of the senate's health care bill next week.
--Biblical comments concerning homosexuality by the mayor of Valejo, California, leads to calls for his resignation.
--Since the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was instituted, the unemployment roles have actually increased.
--Wisconsin legislature to look at legalizing marijuana for medical use.
