Swine Flu Vaccine: How Safe?

Host:Ingrid Schlueter
Guest:Barbara Loe Fisher
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Barbara Loe Fisher is the co-founder of the National Vaccine Information Center.

According to Barbara, the H1N1 (Swine Flu) Virus appeared outside a pig farm in Mexico in April of this year. Within about 10 days the World Health Organization had declared an international emergency and shortly after, Washington officials declared that we were under a national health care emergency.

Why is there such an intense public campaign to get people vaccinated, especially when we know that H1N1 has shown itself to be no more serious for most people than the regular Type A or Type B influenza that goes around each year? Why is there so much hype coming from the mainstream media and public officials on this issue when there's no scientific evidence showing that this virus has mutated or will mutate?

These questions merely represent the beginning of the controversy as Barbara tells listeners about safety factors such as the potentially reactive oil-based adjuvants added to the vaccine to increase vaccine potency, the chances of contracting Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and other concerns that many of our legislators don't seem to be considering.
