Jim began with a report that the Wisconsin Medical Society is planning an invitation-only hearing/vote this Friday (8/14) on a provision that would overturn their current stance against euthanasia.
After mention of this story, Jim introduced Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America. Larry has been Executive Director of Gun Owners of America for 26 years. GOA is a national membership organization of 300,000 Americans dedicated to promoting their Second Amendment freedom to keep and bear arms.
The discussion began with a look at "S.B. 2099". This is a non-existant bill that supposedly would require citizens to report all their firearms on their income tax returns. As Larry points out, the U.S. Senate never uses the S.B. designation before the bill number; they only use the initial "S".
Other actual pieces of legislation were discussed including the Citizens Self Defense Bill of 2009 (H.R. 17), the Veterans Disarmament Act (S. 669), along with concealed carry/open carry policies, the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court, job recruitment for internment camp positions, and more.
