Karen England has been a strong defender of family values for more than eleven years. She currently serves as the Executive Director for Capitol Resource Institute (CRI), the oldest and largest pro-family public policy organization in California.
CRI has discovered that the Alameda County, California, Unified School District is violating federal law on parental rights via a new mandate on pro-homosexual curriculum. It's a curriculum designed for Kindergarten through 5th grade and is being implemented under the guise of the anti-bullying/safe schools movement.
Two concerns stand out. The first is that the school district is not allowing parents to let their children "opt-out" of the curriculum. The second concern surrounds what school district vice president, Ron Mooney, said. He noted that religious students may disagree with the curriculum, but only at home. They may not carry those views into the classroom.
