Congressman Pete Hoekstra is a Republican from Michigan's Second Congressional District.
Representative Hoekstra appeared on the first half of Crosstalk to discuss a bill he introduced this week. This bill (House Joint Resolution 42) would create a Constitutional Amendment that would explicitly establish and protect the rights of parents, not government or any other organization, to raise their children as they see fit.
The guest during the second half of the program was Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel.
Mat joined Vic to discuss the Iowa Supreme Court ruling that has overturned the Iowa Defense of Marriage Act, a ruling that called the ban on same-sex marriage, "unconstitutional". This happened, in spite of the fact that according to Mat, 62% of Iowa citizens feel marriage should be between one man and one woman.
