Dr. Mark W. Hendrickson, is an adjunct faculty member, economist and scholar with the Center for Vision and Values at Grove City College.

Media reports continue to speak of a sputtering economy that appears to be in a freefall. The government response has involved corporate "bail outs," spending bills, and so far, two stimulus plans designed to stave off further economic difficulties. The problem is, where is the government getting this money? The government must either increase taxes on businesses and individuals or print more money.

Corporate deficits and bankruptcies are certainly disconcerting, but what about our government? Is it realistic to think that they can continue to operate as they do and at the same time be our "savior" and turn things around?

Join Dr. Hendrickson as he looks at the financial evidence, past and present, that forms his diagnosis of the American economy, and how listeners around the nation feel as well.
