Thriving on Less

Host:Ingrid Schlueter
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Ingrid opened the program commenting on a news story from Ohio today that told of the sentencing of a 17-year-old boy for the murder of his mother, and attempted murder of his father, over the Halo 3 video game. Ingrid warns parents not to allow these violent games in their homes.

The majority of the program dealt with materialism and the recent economic downturn. Recent job losses have forced many Americans to take a reality check regarding expectations and entitledment lifestyles. Americans living above their means with credit are now being forced to pay the bills. Ingrid shared the story of an elderly British woman whose childhood was lived in extreme poverty and contrasted that harsh reality with what is perceived to be poverty today.

The subject of doing more with less was discussed and two books were offered through Crosstalk that give ideas on how to simplify and cut back on spending.
