A press conference took place this morning on the recent financial market bailout that will cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. It's the largest federal bailout since the Great Depression. Keep in mind that this is on top of the emergency funds going for those affected by hurricanes Ike and Katrina, as well as the Middle East war effort. We're being told that this bailout, that will have to be funded by taxpayers, will be much better than the alternative.
Ingrid came up with some sensible ideas to provide funding for the bailout. She noted how Planned Parenthood gets 305 million in taxpayer dollars per year. She also recommended shutting down the Department of Education.
From Enron to Ike, and Fannie May to Freddie Mac, America's economic system is being taxed on many fronts. Are these incidents merely an economic correction or a symptom of a larger problem? Callers also weigh in as America's economy is put under the microscope on this edition of Crosstalk.
