Arthur D. Ally, who launched the Timothy Plan in 1994, is founder and President of the company, the nation's leading Biblically based, pro-life, pro-family mutual fund group. He is also general partner of Timothy Partners Ltd. (the fund's sponsor/adviser) and past president of Covenant Financial Management Inc. (CFM), a financial planning firm he founded in 1990 prior to establishing The Timothy Plan.
There is a brand new version of a highly sexual and violent video game that's just been released. The new version is entitled, Grand Theft Auto IV, a game manufactured by Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games.
According to Arthur, Grand Theft Auto IV had over $500 million in sales in its first week. It's expected that 13 million units will be distributed over the next 12 months.
The problems with this game are almost too numerous to mention. Beyond the intense violence, blood and mayhem, during the game the character can drive drunk, have sex with prostitutes, visit adult clubs, and even request a private lap dance.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board ("ESRB") rates this game an "M" for "Mature", appropriate for ages 17 and up. Arthur points out that these ratings mean nothing, no one has to abide by them, and retailers ignore them because it's all about the money.
Whether it's entertainment choices or even investment funds, this Crosstalk will get you to ponder what it means to be a Biblically responsible steward of income and time, not only in our lives, but in the lives of our children as well.
NOTE: This program first aired May 7, 2008.
