California Universities Can Deny Christian School Credits

Host:Ingrid Schlueter
Guest:James Johnson
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Dr. James Johnson is special counsel for the Institute for Creation Research.

A California judge says state universities can turn down high school science and history credits if they were taught based on creationism and if students are taught that the Bible is without error. Read the story here.

According to Dr. Johnson, the bureaucrats, with endorsement by this federal district judge, are basically saying that even though Christian high schools may teach the same "checklist" of standard items for science, they added a religious viewpoint that is critical of evolution and therefore the credits are unacceptable.

Since this case deals with state universities that are funded through taxpayer dollars and not private or religious educational institutions, this type of viewpoint discrimination has establishment cause ramifications. The guest explained the far reaching implications of this decision for Christian students.
