With the approaching 4th of July holiday, Ingrid began this edition of Crosstalk by offering listeners a copy of a book entitled Documents of Freedom.
Dr. Thomas Jones is a scientist, author, pilot, and former NASA astronaut. Ingrid interviewed Dr. Jones for his efforts as co-author of the book, Hell Hawks!: The Untold Story of the American Fliers Who Savaged Hitler's Wehrmacht.
Hell Hawks is about a little-known and nearly forgotten group of fighter pilots. These young men, about 1,000 strong, were part of the 365th Fighter Group that flew P-47 Thunderbolt fighter aircraft during World War II. These men were called upon to train for and eventually do battle in gritty, action packed situations as they fought the German war machine.
