Global Warming / Climate Change Policy
| Host: | Ingrid Schlueter |
| Guest: | Mark Block, Phil Williamson and Phil Kerpen |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
Mark Block is the State Director of the Americans for Prosperity Wisconsin Chapter. Phil Kerpen is the National Policy Director for Americans for Prosperity, and Phil Williamson is a truck driver from Waterford, Wisconsin.
These guests appeared on Crosstalk to discuss global warming and climate change policies and their impact upon energy prices.
Mark Block opened the program by giving some background information concerning how he came to know Phil Williamson, as well as information on the efforts of Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan. Ryan's energy and entitlement related program is called the "Roadmap for America's Future" which he introduced three weeks ago.
As a truck driver, Phil Williamson wanted to do more than sit back and complain about fuel prices. He was led to communicate with Mark Block who helped him get his website, http://www.fightbackwisconsin.com/, started. He encouraged listeners to visit his site and sign the petition that he's hoping will help move legislators to see the need for opening up federal lands and offshore property for exploration and drilling.
Phil Kerpen believes the gas price issue is a critical one because we have a large number of people in key positions who feel these prices aren't high enough. They note that Europeans pay approximately $9-$10 per gallon. These politicians feel we should be paying prices at European levels so that we drive less, thereby thwarting the alleged problem of global warming.
