David Horowitz is the author of Left Illusions and numerous other books, including his latest, Party of Defeat: How the Democrats and Radicals Undermined America's War on Terror Before and After 9-11. He is a well-known political convert from radicalism and is the president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center in Los Angeles.
Recently at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, David was given a tour of the student union, the location where he was scheduled to speak. The union building houses the offices for other student clubs that are funded by mandatory student fees. Outside the office of the Muslim Students' Association was a poster that was against his appearance. The poster featured an anti-Semitic caricature of a Jew in a style similar to that of Nazi posters from the 1930s. The Jew in the caricature was standing in a garbage can with the cover on his head, dressed in a Nazi uniform, with an armband marked "H" for "Horowitz." The caption read "Horowitz Awareness Week.
The Muslim Students' Association was created by the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization that Horowitz describes as "a genocidal cult." The motto of the Muslim Brotherhood is: "God is our objective, the Quran is our constitution, the Prophet is our leader, jihad is our way and death for the sake of God is the highest of our aspirations."
The problem is, the Muslim Students' Association won't denounce the terrorist aspects of Hamas and Hezbollah, and they won't sign a declaration of condemnation.
This isn't the only area where colleges and universities are digging in their heels to protect political correctness. Jim noted that the University of Toledo suspended an administrator for stating in a guest column in a local newspaper that choosing homosexual behavior is not the same as being black or handicapped.
Then there's the issue of Phyllis Schlafly who is drawing outrage at a decision by Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, to honor her with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for her national leadership in the conservative movement.
