National Day of Prayer/Riot by Homosexuals

Host:Vic Eliason
Guest:Ingrid Schlueter and Brian Camenker
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Ingrid Schlueter joined Vic for the first part of the program to discuss the official National Day of Prayer event on Thursday at the Capitol in Washington, DC. There were many participants, some of whom did pray in Jesus' Name. But two audio clips showed how broad and inclusive the organizers have allowed the event to become.

In one, Rabbi Bruce Lustig, of the liberal "Reformed" branch of Judaism, stated that "No matter our creed, our color, our income or our status in life, whether Christian, Muslim, Jew, Sikh, Buddhist or Jain, before the Eternal, we are all equal in God's eyes, we are equal in prayer, for through prayer, God can and will be our strength, and our shield, and our help."

In the other, the Secretary of the Interior, Dirk Kempthorne chose to include a story about his participation in a "Blessing of the Harleys" ceremony several years ago, in which he quoted Milwaukee Roman Catholic Archbishop Timothy Dolan and included Dolan's profanity as well.

For his part, Ravi Zacharias spoke at the Capitol Hill event, but did not pray there, thus avoiding the conflict over praying "in Jesus' Name".

The second Crosstalk guest was Brian Camenker, Director of Mass Resistance, a pro-family action organization in Massachusetts. Brian described a meeting at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts on Thursday night, where Ryan Sorba was speaking to a packed room about his upcoming book, The Born Gay Hoax.

During his speech, dozens of lesbian activists climbed in through windows and stormed the podium in what quickly turned into a riot scene. However, despite the fact that there were both uniformed police officers and a plainclothes security guard were in the room, no action was taken to stop the disorderly conduct of the intruders. Instead, Ryan Sorba was told to leave the room "for his own safety".

Among the listeners who commented were those who told of how they had been in the homosexual "lifestyle", but have now left it through God's intervention, thus showing that they were not "born gay".
