From his roots as a student pastor from rural Minnesota, the late Paris Reidhead went on to minister for Christ as a Christian Missionary Alliance pastor and missionary for many years. His Bible Teaching Ministries, Inc., continues under the leadership of his wife, Marjorie, and daughter, Virginia Teitt, and a dedicated Board.
This Crosstalk features a sermon entitled, "Ten Shekels and a Shirt" a sermon that's considered to be one of the most influential and memorable of the 20th century. In this message, Pastor Reidhead presents listeners with some challenges: What is the standard for success in life? Is success to be found in humanism? Does it exist in verbally assenting to numerous aspects of the Christian faith?
The answer he presents from Scripture makes a clear distinction between the beliefs of humanism and Christianity as he describes how each world view looks at the chief end of being. Humanism believes that the chief end of being is the happiness of man. Christianity says that the chief end of being is the glory of God; that we should not view God as a means to anyone's happiness, but instead, as an end in Himself.
Bible Teaching Ministries gladly accepts donations of Bibles, hymnals, and Sunday School materials for use in missions. Donations can be sent to the address below.
