Bill McKeever is the founder of Mormonism Research Ministry located in Draper, Utah.
According to Bill there are a lot of things in Mormon history that are confusing and embarrassing not only to those of us on the outside looking in, but also to contemporary Mormons as well. For example, some people may be confused because of the recent activities outside of Eldorado, Texas, where 416 children of the polygamist practicing Fundamentalist Latter Day Saint sect have been taken into custody by authorities. This was done in order to ascertain whether or not abuse is taking place due to under age girls being wed to older men. As Bill points out, however, the non-polygamist, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, has no connection with the FLDS.
Bill presents a brief historical overview of the FLDS, along with enunciating a number of typical Mormon beliefs as well. One involves the doctrine of Jesus being the spirit brother of Lucifer. Another is their works philosophy based upon the belief that Christ's sacrifice was only a partial payment for sin. These and other doctrines are discussed that can help you to better understand your Mormon neighbors and acquaintances.
