Iowa Caucuses

John LeBoutillier is a nationally recognized political commentator, former congressman, a writer for NewsMax.com, and author of the book, Harvard Hates America.

Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee were the big winners in the Iowa caucuses.

On the Democratic side, Obama became the first black American to win a primary or a caucus. John believes that with Obama being hot coming out of Iowa, and being popular with independents, this bodes well for him as he enters the upcoming New Hampshire primary.

John Edwards has yet to win any primary or caucus. LeBoutillier feels he'll go on for a while and that if Hillary Clinton, who finished third in Iowa, bombs out, he may hang in there as an alternative to Obama.

On the Republican side, John believes that in states that contain a substantial block of evangelical voters, Mike Huckabee will do well. The key is whether or not he can expand and become a popular candidate among non-evangelicals.

John feels voters just don't buy Mitt Romney's act because of his "flip-flops" on many issues.

John questioned Rudi Giuliani's decision to refrain from active campaign participation until the Florida primary. He views this as a rather odd strategic move because it comes after Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan and South Carolina.

John feels Fred Thompson, in spite of having a good conservative message, is going nowhere. He believes Thompson may stay in the race until South Carolina but will probably be out after that.

Ron Paul carries a libertarian viewpoint but John believes he's going to have to do better in the next couple of primaries in order to be taken seriously.
