Andrea Lafferty is the Executive Director with the Traditional Values Coalition.
The voting committee voted the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) out yesterday. It will go to the floor next Thursday. Four Republicans voted for it. Three Democrats voted against it in protest that it wasn't broad enough and didn't protect transgenders.
According to Andrea, the current version of the bill forbids hiring "discrimination" by businesses or ministries that have 15 or more employees. This includes Christian schools, universities, day care centers, Christian camps and other religious entities that are not specifically linked to a church or denomination. There is, however, an exception for Christian broadcasters.
