The Dangers of ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act)

Host:Vic Eliason
Guest:Matt Barber
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Vic Eliason began this edition of Crosstalk with a story out of Ocean Grove, New Jersey, where the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced on Monday that it was stripping the Methodist Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association of its tax exempt status for part of its property. The camp made news earlier this year when it refused, for religious reasons, to allow a lesbian couple to hold a civil union ceremony at a pavilion on camp property.

After reading this story, Vic introduced Matt Barber, the Director of Policy for Cultural Issues for CWA (Concerned Women for America). He appeared on Crosstalk to discuss ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, also known as HR 2015.

ENDA would essentially grant federally protected minority status to people based upon sexual orientation (homosexuality) or gender identity (cross- dressers), while at the same time committing wrongful discrimination against people of faith. Specifically, under ENDA, sexual morality could not be considered a factor in hiring or housing.
