Kurt Van Gorden is the director of Jude 3 Missions and the Utah Gospel Mission.
The Church of Scientology began in New Jersey in 1953 and in California in 1954. It was the brainchild of 1930's science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. According to Kurt, although Hubbard was a genius in the writing field, his theology was completely erroneous.
Ecclesiastes says that "...there is no new thing under the sun." Scientology reminds us of this as its theology is not unique at all. Kurt reveals this to listeners when he discusses how Scientology has polytheistic tendencies. This is not surprising when you realize that Hubbard believed he was the Western Buddah.
While not unique in theology, Scientology does have its own unique terminology. On the other hand, it also carries with it some major misunderstandings concerning Jesus. This and other helpful information is presented that will allow you to make a case for your faith to those involved in this movement, on this edition of Crosstalk.
