Protecting Our Children from Sexual Predators

Steve Roddel is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the website known as Family Watchdog.
According to the Department of Justice, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be molested before they turn 18. Parents can never be too careful because 95% of these crimes are committed against someone the perpetrator knows.
There are roughly 550,000 registered sex offenders in the United States. The problem is, only about 350,000 of them are on the Internet to be viewed by the public. The public is not informed regarding the remaining perpetrators because states may view these offenders as being of no risk. Steve says that the statistics don't hold that to be true.
As a response to the problem of sex offender notification, Steve has developed Family Watchdog. This is a website that allows you to type in your address and it indicates the areas where sex offenders live within a 5 mile radius of your home.
