According to The Fairness Doctrine concept, if a radio or TV broadcast facility allows someone to express their opinon on a given subject, they would have to have someone on-the-air to give an opposing viewpoint. This so-called attempt at fairness and balance is really an attempt to silence talk radio, because liberal forces don't like the lock such conservatives have in this area of broadcasting.
This Crosstalk discusses how The Fairness Doctrine will probably be policed if it returns, the views of numerous politicians on this issue, the economic impact to radio stations that are broadcasting conservative talk programming, and what you can do when this subject comes up again in Washington, as Joseph feels it will in 2009.
