Evangelical, Mystical Spirituality

Host:Ingrid Schlueter
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Obsession toward contemplative mystical spirituality continues to gain momentum in evangelical circles. Ingrid feels this is headed somewhere and therefore it's more than just another "bandwagon" or trend that will soon depart.

More specifically she's concerned about organizations that in the past have been solidly behind the "Sola's" of the Reformation and are now embracing the Eastern practices of contemplative spirituality.

One example she cites is called Taize Worship. This involves periods of long silence interspersed with corporate chanting; all designed to supposedly allow people to experience God in the silence.

Ingrid points out that contemplative worship wars against the certainty of our salvation and our ability to know God through His Word. Why? Because in contemplative spirituality, it's all about the journey.

Ingrid asks listeners to comment and communicate if they are becoming discouraged by hearing such news or if this news is causing them to pray ever more fervently for Christ's true remnant church.
