Nancy Leigh DeMoss is the author of numerous books, the latest of which is entitled, Choosing Forgiveness: Your Journey to Freedom. She is also the host of the nationally syndicated radio programs, Revive Our Hearts and Seeking Him.
The topic of forgiveness touches all of us because everyone will be hurt by someone at some time. When we are hurt by someone, bitterness is often one of the fruits. We see the results in church splits, marriage breakups, road rage, the litigious nature of our society, and more dramatically, in the recent school shootings.
Forgiveness is the necessary response for the Christian. Nancy compares this to pressing the "delete key" on the offenses that have happened to us. If instead, we harbor bitterness, we may think we are obtaining satisfaction but in fact, the bitterness merely traps and controls us. It can even have physical consequences. We must forgive the individual(s) and at the same time give such situations up to God and let Him handle the perpetrator(s) in whatever fashion he chooses.
This program first aired October 11, 2006
