Dr. Warren Wiersbe has a long resume in service for Christ that includes having been the pastor of Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, the General Director of Back to the Bible, as well as being a Bible teacher, a conference speaker and author. His latest effort is a book entitled, Heirs of the King: Living the Beatitudes.
Located in Matthew chapters 5-7, the Sermon on the Mount summarizes God's constitution of the kingdom, and this kingdom of God is the rein of God in our lives. This sermon communicates that Jesus did not come to overthrow Roman rule and reestablish the kingdom of David. Instead, Jesus points out that the kingdom he establishes is in the human heart. It's a spiritual kingdom and it's counter cultural.
Learn the value of what it means to be poor in spirit, the difference between natural and unnatural sorrow, why meekness doesn't always mean weakness, how to hunger and thirst for righteousness, developing the characteristic of being merciful, to be pure in heart, how we can be peacemakers, what the images of salt and light mean, and more.
