The Plan to Silence Conservatives

Cliff reported on his recent attendance at a media reform conference where progressives were laying out a plan to use the power of the federal government to manipulate and control editorial content. This involves bringing back the so-called Fairness Doctrine, because they feel conservatives have been too successful in the media, particularly in the areas of talk radio and cable television.

According to Cliff, the implementation of the Fairness Doctrine is quite possible due to the fact that if the Democrats win the White House, they will have a 3-2 majority on the Federal Communications Commission. Therefore, by a majority vote, they could bring back the Fairness Doctrine, without a vote of Congress.

In the meantime, Cliff sees hate crimes legislation, recently passed by the House, as an attempt to regulate so-called hate speech. This is meant to pave the way for the return of the Fairness Doctrine.
