Tom DeWeese is the President of the American Policy Center.
Agenda 21 is a policy that was put together and introduced internationally at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. It's the blueprint that brought about what's known as sustainable development and smart growth.
While these titles sound good, these are really controls that usurp the power of local city planning, city councils and county commissioners.
What isn't sustainable? Tom lists meat consumption, single family homes and automobiles as things that fly in the face of sustainable development ideology.
Freedom 21 was created about 8 years ago to counter Agenda 21. The next Freedom 21 conference will be held July 19-21 in Dallas, Texas.
Also discussed was The Real ID Act. This was passed in 2005 and is supposed to help fight terrorism and illegal immigration. It was attached to an emergency supplemental appropriations act. It would call for a national ID card yet Tom notes that this isn't necessary; that all government officials need to do is to simply enforce laws at the borders.
