State of the Church

Host:Ingrid Schlueter
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Today it's not uncommon to hear about churches that offer coffee and doughnuts during services. Others may use secular pop music, clips from Hollywood movies to drive home sermon points, or even vulgarity.

Why is traditional, soul piercing gospel preaching being replaced by pragmatic, contemporary, church growth methods?

When people show concern about such issues, they are sometimes accused of being out of touch. Are such people really out of touch, or is the church today out of touch with the Bible and the historic mission of the church?

Is it possible that we are seeing the hawking of humanism under the guise of evangelicalism? Ingrid opens the phone lines to discuss this ever growing problem as she looks at the state of the American church on this edition of Crosstalk.
