The Sudan tower project pledge amount as of the end of this Crosstalk amounted to $45,580. (For complete details regarding this topic, see the March 1 Crosstalk archive.)
Also requested was prayer for the Busekros family. Melissa Busekros is the 15 year old German girl who was removed from her home by public officials, all for the crime of being home schooled.
As reported on Tuesday's Crosstalk, a German appeals court has not only affirmed the ruling of a lower court that took Melissa from her family, but also ordered that the other family members receive psychological examinations as well. This means the family's five other children could be in danger.
Jan Markell is the Founder and Director of Olive Tree Ministries.
Many Christians have a passive and sometimes antagonistic attitude toward the nation of Israel. Jan sees this as a new wave attitude in the evangelical church. This is a fulfillment of Peter who said that in the latter days there will be many scoffers.
Vic commented that this is part of the trivializing of God's Word. Jan responded that this trivializing is due to the seeker-sensitive movement and the pull to the "left" by churches that don't preach the solid expositional messages that people need.
Jan also comments on Luke 21, 2 Timothy 3, and Daniel 12 and the significance of these portions of Scripture to American society today.
