Mission Freedom--Plus Sudan Project update

Host:Vic Eliason
Guest:Eric Egland and Debra Bastian
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Major Eric Egland is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. His experience includes working to defeat terrorism, narcotics trafficking and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Major Egland believes you can't divide support for the troops and support for the mission. He feels we need to succeed in Iraq and to play games with the funding undermines the success of our mission there.

Major Egland has written a book that is a plan from the troops for victory in Iraq entitled, The Troops Need You, America.

Major Egland and his wife also run a ministry called, Mission Freedom. This outreach focuses on support for grassroots ministries run by locals in Islamic and post-Communist countries.

Debra Bastian is with Move America Forward. This is an organization that was on the road with a caravan headed to Washington, D.C. At each rally stop across the nation, people come out to meet them with flags. As the flags are collected, the goal is to set them up at Capitol Mall creating a flag city. That will be on the 17th. Eventually the flags will be sent to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

On the 16th, the group will be taking Easter basket packages to wounded military personnel at Walter Reed Hospital.

The second half of this Crosstalk dealt with the topic of VCY America's Sudan tower project. The total needed is $65,305. The pledged funding for the project at broadcast time stood at $31,742.
