Anti-Family California Legislation;
Operation Nehemiah Sudan Project

Host:Vic Eliason
Guest:Karen England
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Karen England is the Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute, California's leading pro-family, grass roots advocacy group based in Sacramento, California.

Karen appeared on the first half of Crosstalk to discuss California Senate Bill 777. Under this bill, no public instruction or public funds can go to any school, pre-school or college that does anything that reflects adversely on one's homosexuality, transsexuality or gender.

On the second half of the program, Vic Eliason looked back several years ago when Crosstalk presented a specific need for the people in Sudan. Sudan is located in the "Horn" of Africa, at the eastern side of the continent along the southern Red Sea. These people had been driven from their cities and towns by Islamic gunships. Many people either died or ended up in refugee camps.

In response, Crosstalk raised enough funding to present the area with a portable Christian radio station in a Toyota Land Cruiser, along with 1,000 solar powered radios for the refugee camps.

After ministering for several years, an accident occured with the truck. The portable pneumatic tower was damaged but now with God's blessing, premission has been obtained to erect a permanent 300 foot structure. The cost of the construction and the tower is $65,305 dollars.

Vic shared this need with Crosstalk listeners to help raise the necessary funds so that Christian broadcasting can continue in the Sudan, this time with a larger listening radius of about 50 miles.
