Dr. Cal Beisner is with the Interfaith Stewardship Alliance and is also the Associate Professor of Historical Theology and Social Ethics at Knox Theological Seminary in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Recently there was a press conference in Washington, D.C. involving the cooperation of scientists and evangelical leaders. They were announcing the launching of a collaborative effort looking at environmental issues and particularly global warming.
This group issued an urgent call to action that was sent to the President, the Environmental Protection Agency, certain congressmen and other leaders.
With this in mind, the Interfaith Stewardship Alliance has been concerned about two distinct but related issues:
First of all, they don't feel that the science adequately supports the notion of catastrophic, human induced, global warming.
Secondly, they feel it isn't accurate to portray this issue as one that has a large, overwhelming consensus, both among scientists as well as the evangelical community.
Is global warming cyclical? Is God capable of taking care of the universe without our help? Is the claim that the polar ice caps are melting really true? This Crosstalk helps answer these interesting questions.
Vic ended the program with news on the stripping of the grassroots lobbying legislation (Section 220) from Senate Bill 1.
