Sarah Leslie is an editor of apologetic topics with Discernment Ministries.
Contemplative spirituality is not rooted and grounded in the word of God yet it is increasingly being embraced in contemporary Christianity. It teaches that instead of encountering God through his word, you must include meditation, as well as new forms of reading Scripture such as mantra prayer.
Ingrid Schlueter then alerted listeners about the January/February issue of Today's Christian Women Magazine and an article by Keri Wyatt Kent entitled, Fresh Air: Three Practices To Breath Life Into Your Conversations With God. The article covered three main points: #1--Deep Listening (Lectio Divina) #2--Breath Prayer #3--Being There (Guided Visualization)
Ingrid then introduced Sarah Leslie who recognizes this as just another example of occult Eastern meditation and mysticism, not unlike what she experienced during her years in the youth counterculture/"hippie" movement of the 1960's
Overall, Sarah encourages listeners not to be deceived by all the new avenues and techiniques of spirituality available. Instead, be vigilent, alert, and get back to the basics of God's Word.
