Rick Warren's Trip to Syria--Part 2
| Host: | Vic Eliason |
| Guest: | Ingrid Schlueter |
| Listen: | RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD |
As a followup to yesterday's Crosstalk, Vic Eliason began this program by reading an article from Joe Farrah of WorldNetDaily on the subject of Rick Warren's quasi-diplomatic junket to Syria.
Ingrid Schlueter returned with new information stating that Warren is on a three-nation tour, however Warren claims his stop in Syria was not meant to be political. Warren states that he was invited by a friend to Syria, the Saddleback peace plan was presented, and Syria's leader reciprocated by giving Warren permisson to send teams. Ingrid also reported that other items discussed included religious freedom and academic exchange.
Vic also referenced Noah Hutchings of Southwest Radio Ministries and his 24 indicators that may indicate that a church is becoming purpose driven. Some of these changes include:
-Changes in music to a rock style
-Removal of hymn books
-Choir elimination
-Replacement of the organ and piano with heavy-metal rock instruments
-Repetitive singing of praise lyrics
-Allowance of casual dress
-Eliminating of business meetings and church committees, deacon boards, etc., and more.
