News Items and Thankfulness

Host:Vic Eliason
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

During the first quarter-hour of Crosstalk, Vic discussed an American Family Association boycott of Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has announced that they will not make corporate contributions to support or oppose controversial issues unless they directly relate to the ability for the company to serve their customers. In spite of this statement, Wal-Mart is still a member of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and they still dispense the Plan B abortion pill.

Vic also mentioned that Wal-Mart is donating money to Al Gore's climate project.

Another retailer mentioned was Best Buy and their decision not to use the phrase "Merry Christmas" in their advertising.

This first segment wrapped up with news regarding cutbacks in Rick Warren's "Purpose Driven" ministry.

On this eve of Thanksgiving, the remainder of the program focused on the question, "What are you thankful for?" Listeners responded by expressing thanks for salvation, family, God's grace and mercy, pastors, the Slice of Laodicea website, protection from permanent injury, God's faithfulness, friends, the Bible, the VCY ministry and more.
