Gay Speaker at Saddleback Aids Conference

Host:Vic Eliason
Guest:Linda Harvey
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Linda Harvey is the president and founder of Mission America, a pro-family organization that monitors homosexual activity in the youth culture.

Mark Dybul is an open homosexual that has been christened the ambassador to the AIDS crisis. Rick Warren, of Purpose Driven book fame, has given a platform for Mark to speak at his Saddleback Church in southern California.

Also discussed was the issue of hate crimes legislation which Linda feels will be rising to the top of the Democrats priority list now that they will be taking control of the House and Senate. Such legislation passed the House in the Fall of 2005 It was attached at the last minute to the Child Safety Act. It has been introduced in the Senate but has yet to go beyond that. It adds sexual orientation, gender and disability to current federal hate crimes law.

Hate crimes legislation will add penalties to crimes where it is perceived that the crime was committed when the perpetrator had hatred or bias toward the alleged victim. The legislation is only supposed to pertain to crime and supposedly will not affect speech. The problem is, there are crimes that involve speech. This means Christians need to remain vigilant, communicating their views with their elected representatives so that free speech rights are not abrogated.
