The North American Union

Host:Jim Schneider
Guest:Tom DeWeese
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Tom DeWeese is the president of the American Policy Center.

Last year, president George Bush met in Waco, Texas with Vincente Fox of Mexico and Prime Minister Paul Martin of Canada. At that meeting they agreed to form a partnership called the Security and Prosperity Partnership. (SPP) While the SPP denies it, this appears to be the first step toward creating a North American Union.

The grand project to come from this is a corridor or highway that Tom states will be about eight football fields wide. This NAFTA superhighway will be comprised of 6 lanes that will be utilized to carry automobile traffic. 4 lanes will carry truck traffic and there will also be a corresponding rail line. It will begin at the Texas border and wind up into Canada.

The concept is to have Chinese cargo arrive at a Mexican port, get loaded onto Mexican trucks and then moved to a land port in Kansas City that will be considered Mexican sovereign territory.

Tom details how officials in Kansas City, members of Congress and officials in the state of Texas are reacting to this, what place taxpayer dollars play in the construction of the highway and the secrecy aspect of the SPP working groups.
