Delight in the Word/Biblical Counseling

Pastor Paul Tautges is a certified biblical counselor, pastor of Emmanuel Bible Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and is the author of the book, Delight in the Word: Biblical Counsel for Everyday Issues.

Pastor Tautges believes that many churches have strayed from the Word of God in the pulpit, therefore individual believers are straying from God's Word as well. The result is that people are lacking the confidence that God's Word has the solutions they need.

He stresses that proper counseling doesn't begin with man and his wisdom but rather with the Word of God. This doesn't mean the answers are always easy, but they are always right.

Pastor Tautges views biblical counseling as intensely focused, personal discipleship, whereby you have a mature believer coming alongside a less mature believer for the purpose of helping and warning him to the degree that he experiences biblical change. In essence, this is discipleship, a factor that is to be the work of the Church.

Some of the common issues dealt with by the book include: forgiveness, eating habits, child discipline, emotions and attention deficit disorder.
