Jim Gilchrist is with the Minuteman Project. He appeared on Crosstalk to discuss Operation Sovereignty.
Operation Sovereignty is a 60 day operation for border observation and reporting. It will operate as eyes and ears to supplement border patrol. It will launch on the 5th anniversary of 9-11 and run until November 7th.
The Minuteman Project should not be confused with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps of Phoenix, Arizona. The latter group is predominantly involved in fence building. Gilchrist is in favor of a fence but believes it must be more substantial than barbed wire; that perhaps a wall like the Israeli wall should be built that's funded by the government and not by volunteer donors.
Gilchrist noted that he'd be willing to abandon the wall idea if a 500% increase occured in the U.S. Border Patrol working budget and the budget for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
He believes that this flood of illegal aliens is nothing more than a program of 21st century slave trading. He estimates that amnesty will allow 120-150 million more illegal aliens to enter America and that in 20 years we will have more illegal aliens than legal resident voters.
