Pro-life and Marriage News

Host:Jim Schneider
Guest:Matt Trewhella
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Matt Trewhella is the head of Missionaries to the Preborn, a pro-life group headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

During the first segment of the program, Matt reported on the 2-weekGreat Lakes Tour now in progress, during which they show people in various locations large pictures of unborn babies, along with pictures of babies who have been aborted, to expose what is going on behind the doors of abortion clinics.

There have been mixed reactions, ranging from support to open hostility.

In Lansing, Michigan, the police immediately tried to tell the group that they could not stand on public sidewalks and hold their signs, and later backed down and insisted that the group be done by 5:30pm. Since the schedule called for them to remain along a busy street during rush hour until 5:45, they did not leave at 5:30. But the traffic did! Suddenly there was no more traffic on the busy West Saginaw Highway in Lansing. It was discovered that the police had actually diverted rush hour traffic so it would not pass the pro-life demonstration, in the process creating a huge traffic jam. But curious motorists came in from the other way to see what was going on, making possible many good conversations with the pro-lifers.

There were also positive responses. In Grand Rapids, a police officer thanked them for being there, and said their presence enabled him to give a Christian witness to a number of his fellow officers.

During the remainder of the program Jim Schneider presented a number of current news stories, including:

-Florida police officers are under investigation for ordering the Florida Family Policy Council to stop collecting signatures supporting a marriage referendum at their table at a Promise Keepers event, and then showing their contempt by publicly kissing

-A University of Washington Psychology Professor says reproductive facilities should work on creating a race of human-chimpanzee hybrids, not because of any beneficial results, but solely to offend Christians.

-A Canadian Member of Parliament plans to reintroduce a bill to legalize assisted suicide on demand, with no need for a doctor to be involved.

-A South Dakota poll says voters may be likely to reject the abortion ban at the polls this November

-A Grand Jury refuses to indict Wichita, Kansas abortionist George Tiller for the death of a Texas woman after a third-trimester abortion.

-A Michigan State sophomore writes in the school newspaper that the unborn child is a parasite, not unlike a tapeworm, and a reader responds saying she feels no guilt after aborting her “parasite” because she did not want to “breed” right now.

-The Food and Drug Administration’s new push to approve the Plan B abortifacient for over-the-counter sales appears to be on a “fast track”
