David Bereit is the executive director of the American Life League.
Plan B has been marketed to the country as emergency contraception. If you've had unprotected sexual relations within the last 72 hours, you can take Plan B and it will prevent pregnancy.
According to Bereit, the public is not being educated as to how Plan B actually works.
Plan B is simply a megadose of hormones. The dose is approximately 40 times greater than the dose in the traditional birth control pill. The irony here is that traditional birth control pills are still a prescription only treatment, whereas Plan B is available over-the-counter.
What's also of great concern is the fact that Plan B can create a hostile environment in the lining of the uterus so if fertilization does occur, that life will not be able to implant in the uterine wall to continue its development.
David also discusses how pregnancy has been redefined, whether Plan B can be taken on a regular basis, the differences between Plan B and RU-486, as well as the politics behind this powerful drug.
