Karen England is the executive director of California's Capital Resource Institute, a pro-family, grassroots advocacy group.
As reported on yesterday's Crosstalk, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed SB 1441. This bill mandates that any organization, program or activity that accepts state funding cannot operate with policies that discriminate against homosexuality.
Karen said that the sponsors of the bill are claiming that police and fire departments, with state funds, will not be able to protect churches, businesses or other organizations that discriminate.
Karen also encouraged listeners to call governor Schwarzenegger's office and leave comments regarding SB 1441 as well as a number of other bills. These various bills deal with homosexuality in the classroom, school based health centers, universal healthcare, universal preschool and another bill that changes the definition of tolerance from passive indifference to respect for alternative lifestyles.
