Hanz Zeiger is a college student and Eagle Scout, and author of Reagan's Children: Taking Back the City on the Hill

Jim opened the program with several news items, including the debate and vote on three stem cell research bills this next week in the U.S. Senate, and several court decisions all upholding laws or proposed laws to maintain marriage as being between one man and one woman.

Hans Zeiger wrote this book in part because he sees many in his generation as becoming determined to take back the foundations of this country. Despite the stream of bad news as many of our institutions are increasingly hostile towards Christians, the family, and life itself, there is hope.

Hans says that while his generation (essentially those born during the Reagan years of 1981-1989) is the most "aborted" generation, it is also the most "pro-life" generation in many years. Many are returning to traditional values, and also want to make a difference in our society. The liberal generation that has been in power since they were storming college campuses in the 1960's is about to retire, and "Reagan’s Children" are graduating from high schools and colleges and are preparing to replace them.

One reason for this trend is that liberals tend to have fewer children than conservatives, and tend to have more abortions than conservatives. In a way, the liberal stronghold of abortion may be part of the reason liberals are beginning to lose at the polls, since fewer children of liberals survived to become voters.

This contrast has become more obvious since the death of Ronald Reagan, and Hans decided to document it by writing his book.
