Christian Yoga and other Modern Church Anomalies

Host:Ingrid Schlueter
Guest:Jan Markell
Listen:RealAudio | Windows Media | MP3 | Order Tape or CD

Jan Markell is the founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries. She herself is a radio talk show host on KKMS in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Discussion began concerning a recently released book, Yoga for Christians published by Thomas-Nelson publishers.

Unfortunately through a combination of biblical illiteracy and a desire for feelings, signs and wonders, many Christians are grabbing onto just about any gimmick to get closer to God. One example is the merging of Christianity and Yoga. Jan explains that through Yoga you'll certainly get closer to Krishna or Buddah but not to the Christ of the Bible. In short, if you're a true believer, Christ is in you and you can't get any closer to Christ than that.

The conversation moves to areas like the seeker and purpose-driven movements, the New Age, the Left Behind phenomenon and its related video game, and more.
