Many species of animals have their own type of influenza and usually these influenzas stay with that species. Some can be very virulent; in other words they have a high mortality rate within a species.

This latest strain of the Bird Flu has spread in birds throughout Asia, some parts of Western Europe and some parts of West Africa. Human cases have been reported in Turkey, Iraq, Egypt, China, Kazakstan, Vietnam, Laos and parts of Malaysia. It appears that this flu cannot go from person to person, but viruses can change, therefore scientists are exercising caution.
