Hate Crimes Legislation Vote this week
H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009, has been reintroduced in Congress, and is due for a vote in the House of Representatives this week. This would give the government the power to extend extra legal protection to homosexuals, lesbians and cross-dressers.
According to Peter LaBarbera, President and founder of Americans for Truth, such legislation merely sets up an environment for the banning of speech, since homosexuals, lesbians and cross-dressers could claim that they are in danger of bodily harm just for hearing certain words that they deem as "hate speech".
